Pianist Christian Grøvlen begins the evening's birthday celebration by taking us on a journey into Edvard Grieg's musical universe. We will hear Preludium from the Holberg Suite, Kulokk, Jølstring, Jeg elsker deg (I Love You) and Wedding Day at Troldhaugen, as well as Griegiana by Christian Grøvlen. As a pianist and director of Kode's Composers' Homes, Grøvlen has a strong and close relationship with Norwegian music, not least to Edvard Grieg. His reflections on Grieg's life and music provide a nice setting for the concert.

During the interval, everyone is invited to have cake. It's a birthday party, after all.

Once the cake is eaten, it's time for Grieg's Peer Gynt, which was first performed at the Christiania Theater 150 years ago. Together with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Rasmus Hella Mikkelsen, the evening's narrator Ingeborg Ekeland will highlight and bring to life Grieg's musical landscape and Ibsen's rich gallery of characters. You can look forward to highlights such as Morgenstemning, Solveig's Song and Dovregubbens Hall.
