It is a dark time for the Rebellion. Evading the dreaded Imperial Starfleet, a group of freedom fighters led by Luke Skywalker has established a new base on the remote ice world of Hoth. Darth Vader has one aim: find Skywalker and destroy him.
The Empire Strikes Back is probably the best Star Wars film of all. Part fairytale, part western, part sci-fi adventure, it is a family film that is as re-watchable as any of the classics. Even more so when John Williams’s epic and indispensible score is played live, the sound of space adventure itself.
For this second movie of the franchise, the composer revived recognizable themes already heard in previous installments including the Force Theme and Luke’s Theme. But we also hear the first airing of some favourite Star Wars tunes including Darth Vader’s Theme and the Han/Leia Love Theme. Don’t miss the latest chapter in our larger-than-life space adventure at the Grieg Hall, with the unmatched experience of live orchestral accompaniment.
