Stuart Skelton / Parsifal
Stuart Skelton is one of the finest heldentenors on the stage today, critically acclaimed for his outstanding musicianship, tonal beauty, and intensely dramatic portrayals. His repertoire encompasses many of opera’s most challenging roles, from Wagner’s Parsifal, Tristan, Lohengrin, Erik, and Siegmund to Beethoven’s Florestan, and Saint-Saëns’ Samson to Britten’s Peter Grimes.
Performances of the 2022-23 season include the title role of Tristan und Isolde for a debut at Teatro San Carlo under the baton of Constantin Trinks and in a return to the Bayerische Staatsoper led by Juraj Valcuha. A varied international concert schedule includes Act Two of Tristan und Isolde with Susanna Mälkki leading the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Act One of Die Walküre with Jaap van Zweden and the Concertbegouworkest, the title role in concert performances of Parsifal with Edward Gardner leading the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, and the world premiere of Iain Bell’s Beowulf, commissioned for the tenor, in performances at The Barbican Centre with the BBC Symphony Orchestra led by Martyn Brabbins.
