Artist-in-Residence Christian Tetzlaff
The season’s Artist-in-Residence has been a popular soloist with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, most recently in Edward Elgar’s violin concerto. Tetzlaff is particularly renowned for his expressive and personal interpretations.
He is a profound storyteller on the violin, constantly seeking deeper insight into the music he performs. His concerts are said to often become existential experiences for both the performer and the audience; familiar works suddenly appear in a new light!
Born in Hamburg in 1966, Christian Tetzlaff began playing the violin at the age of six and now lives in Berlin with his family. He plays a modern violin made by Stefan-Peter Greiner, preferring it to his Stradivarius.
Tetzlaff counts Leif Ove Andsnes among his chamber music partners and has performed at the Rosendal Chamber Music Festival, among other venues.
