Instrument: 1st Violin

Melina Mandozzi is from Locarno in the Italian part of Switzerland. She joined the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in 2007.

Melina started playing the violin at the age of four, and at ten she was accepted at the Yehudi Menuhin School in London. She studied with Zakhar Bron at the music academy in Lübeck before continuing her studies with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna.

At the age of twelve, Melina performed as soloist with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall in London. She won her first competition at the age of eight, and has since won numerous competitions in Europe, Japan and South America.

Melina plays a 300 year old Italian violin, and she loves living in Bergen.
