Bodil Erdal is from Bergen. She joined the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in 1991, but played in the Orchestra as a regular extra since 1985. She studied at the Norwegian Academy of Music and the Grieg Academy where she completed her master’s degree in 2006.
Bodil is a member of the chamber music ensemble Filos Thule. She also plays the Baroque cello, and regularly performs with the Baroque ensemble Musica Celines. In addition to her performing career, Bodil enjoys teaching, both individual cello students and classes in orchestral performance.
On tour with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Bodil has played at Carnegie Hall in New York, Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall, London.
Bodil will never forget performing Mahler’s 2nd symphony with Chief Conductor Aldo Ceccato at the age of 17 as her first performance with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra.
