Assistant Conductor

Lars-Thomas Holm (b. 1981 in Sarpsborg, Norway), holds a Masters degree in Orchestra Conducting from the Norwegian Academy of Music, where he gained his diploma conducting the Norwegian Radio Orchestra in June 2011. As assistant conductor of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Holm assists Principal Conductor Edward Gardner throughout the 2015-2016 season.

Holm has also been appointed Principal Conductor and Artistic Leader of the Ålesund Symphony Orchestra. He started his three-year tenure in January 2016, succeeding highly acclaimed Norwegian conductor Bjarte Engeset.

In 2010 he won the Norwegian Conducting Competition, and later the same year he became assistant conductor for Kristjan Järvi and the Baltic Youth Philharmonic Orchestra in Berlin. In 2011 Holm was awarded with a conducting fellowship through the Music Conservatory in Trondheim, which led to concerts with Trondheim Symphony Orchestra and the Trondheim Sinfonietta.
