Post-concert recital in the foyer with Andrew Litton, Vadim Gluzman and players from the Orchestra
Former chief conductor Andrew Litton returns to Bergen to lead a performance of the greatest of all symphonies from his American homeland.
Aaron Copland’s uplifting Third Symphony is a victorious cheer from a country emerging from the Second World War, incorporating his iconic Fanfare for the Common Man in its final movement and some of the most riotous orchestral music he would write along the way.
After Harald Sæverud’s equally determined The Ballad of Revolt the Orchestra is joined by another regular collaborator, violinist Vadim Gluzman. He brings with him Dmitri Shostakovich’s unmatched first Violin Concerto, a work that combines bravura with meditation, brilliance with melodiousness. A concert that promises special things from reunited friends.
«Vadim Gluzman inhabited the music totally, spinning out his lines like a born story teller», MusicWeb International
