Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto
Thursday 18 October - Friday 19 October
Rachmaninov found some respite from political and personal turmoil in his Second symphony. Having escaped to Dresden in 1906, the composer experienced one of the most productive periods of his career. It unlocked new emotions in the composer and delivered a symphony powered by melody that encompasses infernal whirlwinds, passionate declarations of love and heartfelt reflections of peace.
